Cigarette Company Reynolds American To Cut 570 Jobs


New York, NY - Reynolds American Inc. announced Tuesday that they will cut roughly 10 percent of their American workforce in an effort to save $100 million by the end of 2010.
The maker of the Camel cigarettes brand plans to cut 570 employees at its Winston-Salem, N.C. headquarters beginning in the third quarter. The cuts will likely last until the end of 2009.
The company plans to scale back resources used to promote its Kool menthol brand in order to focus more on growing the Camel menthol brand.
